    Q1. Do you think that CIRA should stick to its knitting – the core mandate?

    Q1: Yes, I do think CIRA and the board should ensure that CIRA is the operator of the .CA ccTLD first.

    Q2. If not, how will you ensure that proposed activity – e.g. kiwi.com – is not cross subsidized by the core mandate?

    Q2: I believe you’re referring to the .KIWI and other TLDs that are being run today on Fury, the .CA registry system.

    For me, CIRA’s core mandate is to be a registry operator. This could include operating infrastructure for other TLDs, as CIRA does today. Ultimately, the .CA registry also benefits from this infrastructure, as the technology cost is shared between operating a number of TLDs.

    So, while I agree that this is something the board should keep an eye on while reviewing finances, I don’t see the risk you’re seeing here.
